The Affordable Care Act has created a multitude of rules and regulations that place home health and hospice agencies on notice of high risk areas while also calling attention to ethical concerns. Take control of these formidable changes by committing to a sound ethics and compliance program framework and evolving ethics and compliance activities. Shape the tone at the top levels of your organization and allow it to permeate through to all provider numbers, branches, employees, contractors and volunteers.

The program will cover pertinent laws affecting the healthcare industry, the  seven elements of a compliance program framework and a discussion of the Department of Human Services (DHHS) Office of Inspector General's (OIG) use of Corporate Integrity Agreements in enforcement actions.

Policy examples will be provided.

Prior to joining Simione Healthcare Consultants, Hessler practiced healthcare law for 17 years, focusing on long-term and post-acute care. In addition to her JD and nursing degree, she holds two Certificates in Health Care Ethics and has sat on ethics committees for hospitals and long term care companies.

She is widely considered an expert in compliance, ethics & risk mgmt advice, compliance assessments, and record & claims audits.
