Esther Emard, RN, MSN, MSLIR

There is significant research that correlates employee engagement and patient outcomes. This relationship has two considerations: that of being our responsibility as employees and that of leadership. We will explore both of these considerations and how they impact the patient's experience of care including outcomes of care and financial performance. In this challenging, value-based purchasing environment, organizations will only thrive and potentially survive if they are committed to a culture that strives to manage this important relationship. We must collectively be committed to delivering the highest quality of care together.

Emard  has over 30 years' of health care executive leadership, the most recent being the COO for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for the past 13 years. Previously, she was the Senior Vice President for all health care delivery services, in all five New England States, for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Prior to that, she was the President of Harvard Community Health Plan of New England.
