This all day “Take Charge of Your QAPI Program” focuses on the “how-to’s” or practical strategies of implementing and sustaining an effective QAPI Program to meet the new Medicare CoPs. 

Morning: (8:30am-12:30pm) Building & Sustaining Data-Driven QAPI with HHQI

During this 4-hour interactive workshop, RN Project Coordinators from the Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign team will provide personalized hands-on guidance on data interpretation and the next steps toward developing and sustaining a strong Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan.


          Interpret your agency's HHQI ACH Data Reports and identify gaps in patient care.•          Distinguish at least 3 free evidence-based tools/resources to address gaps in patient care.

 •          Identify 3 additional support resources to assist with development and sustainment of a Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan.

Morning Presenters:

Misty Kevech, RN, MS is an RN Project Coordinator for Quality Insights, the Quality Innovation Network (QIN)-Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for the states of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Louisiana.  Her responsibilities are with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign and involve researching and writing Best Practice Intervention Packages (BPIPs) for home health. 


Cindy Sun, MSN, FNP is the Lead Cardiovascular Project Coordinator for Quality Insights, the Quality Innovation Network (QIN)-Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for the states of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Louisiana.  She has worked the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign since 2009.


Afternoon: (1:00pm-4:00pm) QAPI Practical Strategies, Tips and Tricks

To meet the new Medicare Home Health Care QAPI requirements, agencies must make the journey from data to improvement by employing data management, process improvement tools, process improvement teams and performance improvement strategies.  Applying lessons learned in the morning session, participants will master five key strategies and practical tips and tricks for implementing successful Performance Improvement Projects (PIPs) that keep quality problems permanently solved.


By the end of this program participants will be able describe and implement five (5) key improvement strategies:

  • Use data to inform process improvement
  • Follow the quality roadmap
  • Get organized and stay focused
  • Engage leaders and staff in improvement
  • Employ quality tools to improve outcomes


Afternoon Presenter:

Barbara Katz, RN, MSN, President of BK Health Care Consulting, LLC, has extensive experience in certified and private duty home health care marketing, performance improvement and clinical program development. She has also been a Family Nurse Practitioner, a health educator, a professional trainer and a health care manager in hospitals, medical practices and managed care organizations.

Registration deadline:  December 1, 2017.  A $30 late fee will be charged per person for each registration received after the deadline.


Payment/Cancellation Policy:  Payment must be made in advance of this program, and will be accepted at the door.  Payment can be made by cash, check, VISA, Mastercard and American Express.  Refunds will be issued for those that cancel up to three (3) days prior to the program.  Cancellations made less than 3 business days, or ‘no shows’ will forfeit the registration fee.  Cancellations must be received in writing via e-mail.
