This past spring, the Home Care Alliance’s Board of Directors voted to join the Coalition to Protect patient Safety, in opposition to November’s ballot question 1 which would establish mandated nurse staffing ratios in all Massachusetts hospitals. This ballot question would have an enormous unintended impact on our industry in Massachusetts as it would require hospitals to comply with mandated staffing ratios and trigger a hiring spree for hospital nurses. It is estimated that hospitals would need to hire over 5,000 new nurses within a few months to remain compliant and this poses a severe threat to the home health industry’s ability to retain and recruit nurses.

Join us on September 4th at 11am for a briefing by the Coalition to Protect Patient Safety with information on the ballot questions potential impacts, talking points and materials, how to educate your employees, and what you can do to get involved.
