This webinar will review areas where home health coders have questions about coding more advanced examples.  Case studies will be utilized throughout the presentation for audience participation.  Some of the items reviewed will be sepsis, device issues (infected portcath, periprosthetic fractures), when to use combination codes (Parkinsonism &dementia; DVT & thrombophlebitis, diabetic osteomyelitis; diabetic hypertensive CKD); know when to code an unspecified code; drug induced conditions (secondary diabetes, pancytopenia); behavioral health issues (abuse and dependence).

Also reviewed will be the new considerations under Medicare for daily insulin. Daily insulin and BID insulin administration under Medicare now needs an acceptable diagnosis as stated by CMS in the final rule.  Agencies need to understand what specific diagnoses are approved in the listing by category
