Grassroots Advocacy

Home care and hospice are shaped every day by policy decisions at the State House, in Washington, and inside state and federal agencies. Grassroots advocacy ensures lawmakers and regulators hear directly from the people delivering care—so rules and funding reflect real patients, real families, and real workforce constraints.

Why your voice matters

Elected officials and agency leaders rely on stories and facts from providers to understand what’s working, what’s broken, and what will happen if policy changes move forward. A short email, a quick call, or a meeting can influence outcomes—especially when many constituents speak up consistently.

What counts as grassroots advocacy

  • Emailing or calling a legislator or staff member
  • Submitting comments on proposed regulations
  • Sharing data and real-world examples (delays, access issues, staffing impact)
  • Hosting a site visit or inviting officials to see care delivery firsthand
  • Joining coalition sign-on letters or coordinated outreach days
